Lisa Bebi
I began art as a child. I was fortunate that my parents allowed me to study privately during my elementary school years and onward. My uncle was also a big influence as he was a very successful graphic artist in NYC. He took an interest in my work and provided me with paints and brushes. He also influenced a cousin of mine named Jim Dine who has been a world renown artist since 1960’s.
In college I began my interest in colors and photo images.
I have developed and written about the many unique techniques at I use in mixed media. One popular technique I coined the “Paintover”. Painting using photocopies as a basis. Other techniques I have pioneered is an “oversaturated” atmosphere in acrylics, unique negative space treatments as well as milk resists. I have written over 80 articles regarding my art and techniques for international mixed media publications.
I am regarded as one of the top artists in my community. I get invited to speak, teach, juror and lecture around the community, nationally and even internationally.
