Majoring in medical illustration and microbiology at Cal Poly Pomona, Margaret Carter Baumgaertner worked for eight years as a freelance medical illustrator before studying fine art portraiture. She teaches workshops and has produced six portrait DVD series demonstrating the use of charcoal, Yarka Soyuz (Sauce) and oil in the style of Studio, Plein Air, Alla Prima, and Corporate Portraiture.
