Sally Hirst
I am….. a painter, a printmaker, a teacher, nomadic, restless, easily bored, curious, experimental, irreverent, untidy, loud….
My work is about journeys; those that I take and the journey that the artwork has been on in my studio. The textures, colours and structures of each environment dictate the development of my artwork which whilst predominately abstract are based on fleeting images, imagination and experiences. I invite you to pause a while, to take your own journey through the narratives I create.
Originally from South London I completed my BA (with honors) in Cambridge and post-graduate at Cambridge University. After many years teaching Art and Design I am now a full time artist and currently studying for my MA in Fine Art. In 2017 and 2018 I took the intensive programme offered by artist Nicholas Wilton, his approach enabled me to develop my individual way of working.
In addition to creating, I hold a postgraduate teaching certificate from Cambridge University, teach a range of workshops in painting and printmaking and I give talks and demonstrations.
